Just returned from my first trip to Europe (gasp, I know) and my first thought is “when do I get to go back?”
We stayed in Brussels with my in-laws and while Brussels does have it’s perks, I can’t say I’d really want to spend more time there. It’s loud, traffic never stops, and most people walk around looking mildly annoyed and speaking languages I don’t understand.
Amsterdam, however, was a completely different experience. The people are so incredibly nice and laid back. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. We never wanted to leave.
Despite being sick the whole time (thank you, coworkers) the trip was a blast and we’re already starting to think about the next one.
- Drink portions are abnormally small in Brussels, everyone must be horribly dehydrated.
- French food is gross.
- $5 compass – best money I spent on the trip.
- American Craft Beer > Belgian Beer. Yeah I said it.
I also decided to tough it out and do a Beer Fridays while I was on vacation.
